Philanthropic organization advances education and professional development; its inaugural publication covers Puerto Rico’s communications industries.

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO, PUERTO RICO, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fundación Rafael Delgado Márquez (F-RDM) today announced the public launch of its operations and the release of its first book, “Las industrias de la comunicación: Prensa, televisión, cine y redes sociales en Puerto Rico” (“The Communications Industries: Press, Television, Film and Social Media in Puerto Rico”). Through this simultaneous launch, the organization begins a new phase of work devoted to strengthening the human connections that advance Puerto Rico’s social and economic development through education and professional growth.

Edited and compiled by Dr. Luis Rosario-Albert, the publication brings together 10 studies on the origins and development of selected media industries from 1917 to 2024. Dr. María del Pilar Blanco Delgado contributes the foreword. Organized into four thematic sections, the volume examines the press and television, public policies for cinema, social media, and the economic dimensions of the communications industries. Sixteen researchers contributed to the project: José L. Ayala Pérez, Manuel Chavez, Pedro N. Doreste Rodríguez, Flavia A. García, Javier J. Hernández Acosta, Mirelsa Modestti-González, Alfredo Nieves-Moreno, Yadira Nieves-Pizarro, Danilo T. Pérez-Rivera, Marilyn Rodríguez Cruz, Luis Rosario-Albert, Alexis R. Santos-Lozada, Bruno Takahashi, Christopher Torres-Lugo, Emmanuel Vincenot, and Qucheng Zhang. It is intended to encourage constructive, critical, inclusive, and pluralistic dialogue about past and present challenges faced by audiences, communities, and media organizations in Puerto Rico.

As part of the launch, F-RDM will present the book on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico, 225 C. del Parque, Santurce. Presenters will be Mirelsa Modestti-González, José L. Ayala Pérez, Marilyn Rodríguez Cruz, and Javier J. Hernández Acosta. A welcome cocktail will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The invitation requests RSVPs at 787-637-6520 and notes that parking will be available at Hospital San Jorge on Calle del Parque.

“The public launch of F-RDM represents a commitment to the people, ideas, and opportunities that can expand Puerto Rico’s future,” said Jorge R. Blanco Delgado, President and Chair of the Board of Directors. “We begin this work with the conviction that education and professional development build lasting connections and turn knowledge into tangible possibilities for our communities.”

“This first publication reflects the kind of conversation the Foundation seeks to foster: rigorous, open, and connected to the country’s realities,” said Dr. Luis Rosario-Albert, Board Member and Co-Founder of F-RDM. “Understanding how our communications industries have evolved helps us recognize their contributions, assess their challenges, and think more clearly about the decisions that will shape their future.”

“Our launch is also an invitation to collaborate,” said Joanne Romanacce, Executive Director of F-RDM. “We want to connect students, educators, professionals, researchers, organizations, and communities to broaden access to learning and create new opportunities for growth. This publication is the first visible step in work we hope to build together with Puerto Rico.”

F-RDM’s Board of Directors includes Jorge R. Blanco Delgado, President and Board Chair; Dr. Luis Rosario-Albert, Board Member and Co-Founder; Edwin Figueroa; Miguel Blanco Fuertes; Rafael Colón Lugo; and Carmen Haydee Rivera. Joanne Romanacce serves as Executive Director.
