Sydney Florist Bloomingales Adopts Sustainable Packaging for Flower Deliveries
KIRRIBILLI, Australia – April 24, 2026 / Bloomingales /
Bloomingales, the Kirribilli-based florist known for its luxury fresh and dried flower arrangements, has formally launched an eco-friendly flower packaging system across its same-day delivery service in Sydney. The switch, which takes effect across all outgoing orders including fresh blooms, dried flower arrangements, and curated gift sets, marks a deliberate operational shift away from conventional single-use packaging materials.
A Packaging Overhaul Rooted in Accountability
The new packaging system replaces plastic-based wrapping and non-recyclable fillers with biodegradable and compostable alternatives. Bloomingales has applied the change uniformly across its product range, meaning customers ordering anything from a single stem arrangement to a full curated gift box will receive their order in materials designed to break down without leaving lasting waste.
The decision was driven in part by customer feedback gathered over the past 12 months, which indicated that a measurable portion of Bloomingales’ clientele in the greater Sydney area placed environmental considerations alongside product quality when choosing a florist. Internal records showed that more than 60 percent of surveyed repeat customers expressed a preference for sustainable packaging options before the change was introduced.
What the New System Covers
Bloomingales has confirmed the new packaging applies to all three of its primary product categories. Fresh flower bouquets are now wrapped in recycled kraft paper and secured without plastic tape. Dried flower arrangements, which have a longer shelf life and were previously packaged with foam-based supports, now use a corrugated cardboard inner structure. Gift sets include tissue paper made from FSC-certified sources and boxes printed with water-based inks.
The entire packaging supply chain for the updated system has been sourced from Australian suppliers, a detail Bloomingales says was a non-negotiable condition of the rollout. The company stated it reviewed seven supplier proposals before settling on its current partners.
“We completed the transition across all 3 product lines by the end of Q2 2025, and every order leaving our Kirribilli studio now goes out in materials that can be composted or recycled at home,” said Sarah Linton, Head of Operations at Bloomingales. “This was not a cosmetic change. It required us to rethink how we pack every single product category we offer.”
Positioning Within Sydney’s Florist Market
As a sustainable florist Sydney customers have increasingly turned to for same-day delivery, Bloomingales is now aligning its logistics with the values already present in its product sourcing. The business has worked with local growers for several years and has prioritised seasonal, locally grown stems where supply allows. The packaging reform extends that philosophy to the final stage of the customer experience.
The green flower delivery service operates across Sydney, with same-day fulfillment available to suburbs including the CBD, the North Shore, the Eastern Suburbs, and the Inner West. Bloomingales has not altered its delivery pricing structure as a result of the packaging transition, absorbing the cost difference internally rather than passing it to customers.
